While there is a range of Rolex Oyster Models which have been manufactured in stainless steel and in precious metals, the Day-Date is until today the only model which reserved the right to be
only produced in 18-karat gold or platinum.
According to rumors 3-5 examples in stainless steel should have seen the light of day; in fact these watches have been manufactured outside the Geneva motherhouse at the Ecole d’Horlogerie in La
Chaux de Fonds, and therefore have not been produced by Rolex itself. Furthermore it is always wrongly claimed, that Hans Wilsdorf gifted the 34th President of the United States of America,
Dwight D. Eisenhower, a Rolex Day-Date.
In fact did the founder of the Geneva manufacture hand a timepiece of the Date-Just model range to the american head of state. But nevertheless, during the last 6 decades a lot of celebrities
decided on a Day-Date - and she is today just as young, timeless and attractive as she was, when launched 60 years ago.
Our Day-Date, reference 1803/8 dates back to ca. 1973 and is equipped with a leather strap. She presents overall in an excellent original condition and has of course been serviced and guaranteed
by Rolex Geneva.
